Starting with only four panels, solar power was pretty low, struggling to squeeze even 50 watts from he overcast
skies. After more panels were set up, panel voltage came up from 65v to high 70's and power delivery got above
200 watts as the batteries were getting recharged.
My initial plan to set up EMI filters to each radio feed turned out to be a bad idea, as they introduce a large
voltage drop at high current. To correct this, I removed those filters and inserted one big filter on the
controller's battery port, so that the drop was between the panels and the controller instead of between the
battery and the radios. This worked well, and batteries were charging while voltage drop (even to the digital
station) was tolerable. I think I'll make this the standard arrangement going forward.
